Maryland residents overwhelmingly support actions to cut the dangerous pollution from its transportation sector, responsible for nearly half of carbon emissions in the state. In fact, roughly three in four voters support moving forward with a regional transportation modernization plan that limits pollution and invests in public transportation, safer communities for walking and biking, electric cars and buses. In 2016, Maryland passed a law that would put the state on the path to cut overall climate change emissions (including from transportation) by 40 percent by 2030. Maryland should seize the opportunities in the Transportation and Climate Initiative to deliver cleaner air, a safer climate, and reliable and equitable ways for Marylanders to get from Point A to Point B.
